For driving instructors, driving schools and ADIs, our solution is designed to support you with managing your business and outreach to new driving students. With LBoard, we offer a comprehensive set of online tools that give you access to a schedule management system, email and SMS alerts, real-time reporting, online driver’s record/log, as well as access to promotional advertising via the LBoard website. With a dedicated LBoard support team also available to help, our system is designed to support you in managing your business efficiently, allowing you to spend more time on looking after your learners.
LBoard is an intermediary and it’s important to remember that we do not encourage learners to make certain decisions; their choice of instructor, communications, payment and cancellations with you is at their discretion, and not the responsibility of LBoard.
Are there any pre-requisites in signing up with LBoard as an instructor?
Yes. You need to be a registered ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) to be qualified to work with us.
Can I sign up with LBoard as an independent driving instructor?
Yes. If you are an ADI, you can register with us, either as an independent driving instructor or as a school.
Can I sign up with LBoard as a school?
If you run your own school or have other instructors working for you, you can sign up as a school and be the Instructor administrator. From there, you can add more instructors from your school to LBoard.
How do I set up my profile?
With LBoard, creating a business listing takes moments. After registering, simply upload images, provide an address and contact information, define your packages and offers, and you even have the space to add any other relevant detail for your potential learners. Once the LBoard team have approved this, your listing will be live on the site!
Can I add my current learners to LBoard, so I can manage all learners in one place?
Yes! In fact, we encourage this. By having all your current learners on LBoard, you will be able to manage your business in one place. Your learners will also benefit from reminders, so they’ll never miss a lesson. What’s more, is your reports on pass rates, learner reviews and revenue generated will be more accurate, if all learners are registered. Don’t forget, LBoard is free for life for students. Simply share your profile page with your students, and they can book packages with you (once their existing offline package has finished.)
Will my current learners get the same benefit as the ones registered with LBoard?
No, current learners who have not registered with LBoard will not receive SMS reminders, cannot have access to their driving progress or their online Driver’s record/log.
Note that for students that are NOT registered with LBoard, you will need to follow your current process of providing them with the paper log book.
What happens if I register my current learners to LBoard?
By registering your current learners to LBoard, you will be able to manage all your learners online and with the LBoard app. Your learners will also benefit from SMS reminders for their lessons, access to their driving progress and their online record/log. To register your learners, simply share your profile page, and you will be marked as their default instructor for all future bookings.
Can I use LBoard if I do bike or HGV lessons?
Yes, LBoard is suitable for all kinds of vehicles as long as you are a registered ADI or legally registered and authorised to teach these lessons.
How many working hours do I have to commit to in a day/week?
With LBoard, you are free to decide the number of working hours a week. You are your own boss, so it is up to you how often you work and how many/which days you work each week.
How do I get paid?
LBoard does not manage the payments made between Instructors and students, so you must arrange this between yourself and your learners. However, the LBoard system does capture the details for reporting and financial reporting purposes for our instructors.
How do I change an already accepted booking request? Can I transfer it to other instructors due to my unavailability?
You as the instructor or school should mutually agree this with the student. However, the application allows you to Cancel or reschedule bookings.
How many instructors from a driving school can sign up with LBoard?
As it stands, a driving school can as many driving instructors as they would like.
What is LBoard’s involvement?
At LBoard, we help students to find suitable driving instructors for them and help ADIs outreach to new students. Once a student has chosen an instructor, it is up to the instructor or school to manage communications, finances and to arrange lesson times by making use of the LBoard scheduling system. Bear in mind, LBoard is simply an intermediary in supporting learners and approved driving instructors to work together successfully.
Can I access LBoard on my phone?
Yes. For instructors, the LBoard system is available via native mobile apps. The website itself is also mobile responsive, and you can access and use our app on all iOS and Android devices.
Note: Instructors must register online first, before being able to login to our mobile apps. At this time, registration cannot be done via mobile app.

How can I improve my chances of getting selected by students?
There are various factors that contribute to this, however, below are the important factors which would increase your chance of getting selected by students.
1. Good review rate and feedback from the students

How do I get rated?
Once your learner has completed their time with you, they will be asked to rate you on the following:
1. Teaching skills/techniques
2. Punctuality
3. Code of conduct & Friendliness
Your profile will also feature your pass rate, and star rating for the above.
How can I encourage my learners to leave reviews?
All LBoard learners can login to their LBoard account and use the appropriate option on their dashboard to leave a review.
The LBoard system has the facility to send an email to your external student encouraging them to leave a review by clicking on a link in the email. This would be best suited to learners who have passed their driving test or are in the middle of a package/set of lessons with you. As and when the learners finish an existing package, please encourage them to register with LBoard to rebook their lessons, so that they can then enjoy the benefits of LBoard and post reviews using their dashboard.
What happens if I don’t have any reviews?
Don’t panic! Your LBoard profile will show your reviews once you have 3 from previous learners that have passed. This will not affect your profile being live, so you will still be visible to learners and able to use the LBoard solution. The LBoard application has the facility for you to request reviews from current and previous learners, without them having to register with us. Alternatively, your current learners can register to leave you a review once they have booked and completed their first lesson through LBoard. This will support you in gaining a comprehensive set of reviews much quicker.
How much is the notice period or a contract?
As per company policy, instructors will not be asked to enter into a contract or asked to serve a notice period for cancelling the LBoard service anytime during or after the introductory period. However, we would expect for the instructors to complete any pending lessons that they may have at the time of cancelling the LBoard service.
LBoard are not responsible for any arbitration that may arise due to these cancellations.
What is your data retention policy?
Data of Instructors, who have cancelled the LBoard service, will be retained for 60 days from the time the cancellation is requested.

I am not an ADI. What do I do to work with LBoard?
We take safety of learners and road users very seriously and follow the legal requirements preset by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) for instructors. You will need to meet DVSA’s legal requirements before you can partner with us.

How does LBoard work for students?
LBoard works by giving students a selection of ADIs (Approved Driving Instructors) to match their criteria – An instructor who speaks their language, of a certain gender or one simply with great reviews. LBoard is free for life for students and, by using us, you will benefit from a more engaging learning experience with your chosen instructor, as well as text reminders for your lessons, so you never miss one. You can rate your instructors and voice your opinions. LBoard is simply an intermediary that allows you to search and choose an instructor to suit you. Ultimately, the decision to choose an ADI is yours, and all communications and payments will be at the discretion of you and your chosen instructor.

How do I check my eligibility to register with LBoard for my driving lessons?
Anyone who holds a valid provisional license is free to sign up with us. LBoard does not require you to pass the theory test in order to take your practical driving lessons.
How do I find an instructor?
It’s easy! Simply head to our ‘Search’ page, fill in the form with your requirements and click ‘Search’. Your search will then be populated with the most relevant instructors that meet your requirements. Once you have your search results, click the ‘Add to compare’ button on each profile, and click ‘Compare now’ to compare the qualifications, packages and prices for each instructor. You can compare multiple instructors at once with LBoard.
What are the available courses with LBoard?

Does LBoard only deal with car instructors?
No, the LBoard platform is available for bikes and HGV/LGV lessons as well. Students can search for an instructor with their chosen vehicle by using the ‘Vehicle Type’ field when searching.
Do you offer tuition for scooters or motorbikes or HGV?
Yes, use our LBoard search function to check availability on this in your area.
I already drive with an LBoard driving instructor, can I still register?
Yes. In fact, we encourage you to do this so you can benefit from text reminders for your lessons, and so you can view and track your driver progress with our system. Don’t forget that learner/student registration is free for life.
Current learners can register anytime, and upon completing their current package booked directly with their instructor, they will be able to use LBoard to book future lessons.
How do I know that LBoard reviews are real?
While we do our best to verify all reviews, accurate reviews for each instructor will only appear once they have 3 reviews from learners who have passed with them. In the early stages of LBoard or an instructor, we would advise you to be mindful of this when comparing ADIs.
What benefits do I get by signing up with LBoard?
When it comes to learning to drive, we believe that a good driving instructor and your ability to learn to drive are what matters the most. With our vast choice of driving instructor partners, we offer the following to our learners:
• Your search for a driving instructor through us, and we give you a list of qualified ADIs
• You can set multiple preferences for the search, such as preferred language, vehicle type, gender etc. The most relevant profiles will appear in your search that meet your requirements

How do I leave a review for my instructor?
If you are a registered user, you can login to your LBoard account and use the appropriate option on your dashboard to leave a review.
How do I choose a package with an LBoard instructor?
If you are new to LBoard, you can search on the website by filling in the search form with your requirements and criteria. Next, simply choose and compare instructors, and you will be able to see their available packages and pricing. Select the instructor of your choice and book your package. You will then be taken through the registration process and you can complete your booking by choosing a timeslot for your first lesson.
Once you have completed your booking, the instructor will contact you to discuss your chosen package and any additional requirements that you may have.
How do I rebook further lessons with my instructor?
You can login to your LBoard account and book further lessons or packages with your instructor by choosing the appropriate option on your dashboard.
Why do you need me to register to use LBoard?
When registering, you will be asked to fill in a few details allowing us to get to know you. The reason we require registration and a phone number, is to be able to send you reminders for your lessons. The LBoard solution also gives data to instructors to manage their students, and by registering, you will be able to access your driving log to view and track your driving progress.

How do I pay for my lessons?
Your chosen instructor will get in touch with you shortly after your booking and arrange for the payment to be taken in the most mutually convenient way. You must deal directly with the Instructor for any cancellations, refunds or to reschedule your lessons, as LBoard is not responsible for this.
Is there a fee for students registering with LBoard?
No. There is no fee for students using LBoard, and we intend to keep it ‘free for life’ for students.
Can I compare instructors?
Yes! Within your search results, click the ‘Add to compare’ button on each profile that you wish to compare, and click ‘Compare Now’ to compare the qualifications, offers and prices for each instructor.
Can I request an instructor who speaks my language?
Yes, of course. A number of our instructors speak more than one language. If you want to find someone who speaks your language, please choose the language filter in the search screen and search for the Instructors.
What happens if I don't get on with my instructor?
All our instructors are registered ADIs and adhere to a strict code of conduct. It’s very important that you get on with your instructor, so if you would like to change, you must contact your instructor and cancel your pending lessons. You will then be able to use LBoard to find a new instructor that better suits your requirements.
How many lessons will it take for me to pass my driving test?
We get asked this a lot! But everyone is different, and everyone learns at their own pace. Instructors will strive to get you pass-ready as efficiently as possible. It’s more important to us that you are given a comprehensive learning programme and are test ready, rather than doing it quickly!
How many lessons will it take before I start doing maneuvers, such as turns in the road, parallel parking and reversing?
Our instructors will only introduce new skills and maneuvers when they think you’re ready, as everyone learns at a different pace. Introduction to maneuvers also depends on the timeline of that instructor.
Some instructors may teach new maneuvers as soon as they can, while others prefer to have their pupils master certain foundational skills first, before introducing them to anything more advanced. You are welcome to discuss this with your chosen instructor.
Can I be picked up and dropped off in different areas?
While we can’t confirm 100% that our instructors will always be able to accommodate these requests, you can discuss things like this with your instructor after you’ve booked your first lesson.
Can I have evening and weekend lessons?
Of course! Many of our driving instructors do offer lessons in the evening and at weekends, although these are popular times and do get booked up in advance, so you may wish to book early if this is your preference.
Do I need to wait to pass the theory test before taking driving lessons with an instructor?
No. You will have to pass your theory test to pass your practical, but you can start your driving lessons once you are 17 and have your provisional license. It’s normally a good idea to take your theory and practical exams at a similar time.

Do I need a provisional license before starting lessons?
Before you can start driving lessons you must hold a provisional license. If you don’t already have one you will need to apply for one from the DVLA, you can do this from aged 15 years and 9 months.
How old do I need to be to start driving lessons?
Once you have your provisional license, you can start driving a car once you’re 17 years old.
What are the common mistakes people make during a practical driving test?
